New Bike Suzuki RM-Z450
With its perfect balance of performance and handling, Suzuki’s latest 450 weapon was born to dominate. Strong, controllable power delivery complemented by extraordinarily lightweight handling means you can launch out of corners with breathtaking acceleration and attack the gnarliest sections of the track with total confidence.
At the heart of this beast is a powerful titanium-valved 4-stroke engine, with improved performance, particularly at the bottom and mid-ranges. This is thanks to reshaped intake ports, higher compression, iridium spark plugs and revised carburettor settings. The lightweight exhaust system boasts a longer titanium header pipe for more power, yet is kept quieter with a new FIM-spec muffler.
The new automatic camchain tensioner reduces maintenance while the revised 4-speed transmission gives more drive in 3rd and outright speed in 4th gear. The lightweight chassis with updated aluminium swingarm and twin spar frame features thicker lower tubes and thinner tank rails for unmatched cornering performance.
Delivering maximum airflow to the larger air filter, the sidecovers feature new vents, while a gripper seat cover increases knee grip for perfect control. Showa suspension helps smooth out the ride with fully adjustable 47mm twin-chamber cartridge style forks and a rear shock with high and low speed compression adjustment.
Excel alloy rims provide the best balance of weight and rigidity as do the adjustable-offset Renthal tapered aluminium handlebars. Built with lessons learned from Ricky Carmichael’s racetrack domination, Suzuki’s ultimate weapon is ready for launch in 2007.

449cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine with a bore and stroke of 95.5mm x 62.8mm and compression ratio of 11.9:1.
Compact combustion chamber for efficiency, while the oversquare bore and stroke allows for larger valve diameters.
Hollow camshafts are lightweight and strong.
Both the exhaust and intake cams are machined from lightweight forged-steel billets and are surface-treated to increase durability.
The cylinder head operates with a bucket and shim setup for easy adjustability and performance in extreme conditions.
Lightweight aluminium cylinder with Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) coating to improve heat transfer, durability and weight reduction.
Suzuki Advanced Sump System (SASS) allows the mass of the engine to sit as low to the ground as possible and provide more stable feeing in corners.
SASS divides the crankcases into two separate compartments, one for the crankshaft and the other for the ultra-compact transmission, to keep everything compact and keep the engine as short as possible.
Innovative four-speed transmission is compact and light, and utilises the RM-Z450's broad powerband and eliminates wasteful time spent shifting gears.
The forged aluminium piston has two rings so the engine can rev quicker.
Revised L-shaped electro-plated oil control ring means better ring seating at higher rpm.
Oil-scavenging pump size is increased for better engine lubrication.
Redesigned carburettor settings are fine-tuned to work with a completely redesigned outlet tube to increase engine power output especially at low- and mid-range rpm.
The length of exhaust pipe is increased 40mm for increased power.
New CDI settings mean optimised ignition timing for improved monitoring of engine rpm and throttle position.
Holding the front forks to the frame are completely redesigned triple clamps. Both the top and bottom clamps for more stable handling, especially under braking conditions.
Aluminium twin-spar frame is redesigned for better rigidity balance, increasing cornering performance and running performance over the whoops.
Newly designed swingarm with lightweight construction is improved traction delivery especially at whoops.
SHOWA-made inverted telescopic front forks with optimized 22-way adjustable compression damping, 20-way adjustable rebound damping force, and long 310mm stroke.
The upper holder of the front fork protector is now abolished and fixed only at the bottom end to help weight reduction and less friction.
Piggyback reservoir rear suspension is made by SHOWA. With fully adjustable preload, increasing high/low-speed compression damping, 19-way adjustable rebound damping, and 310mm (12.5-inch) stroke.
Front brake has 250mm disc with dual-27mm-piston calliper.
Rear disc measures 240mm and 25.4mm-piston calliper.
Rear brakes have new-design holes, from ellipse type to round type, for weight reduction.
Each side of the seat has textured surface for better knee gripping.
