New Bike Suzuki RM-Z250
It’s all new and all Suzuki. Redesigned by Suzuki engineers from the ground up, the 2007 RM-Z250 can make a winner out of anyone, from the recreational racer to the seasoned pro.
Inspired by Suzuki’s championship-winning RM-Z450, the RM-Z250 features a powerful yet compact engine encased in a strong, lightweight aluminium chassis, making it the ultimate 250cc 4-stroke racing machine. Everything about the new Suzuki engine is built for maximum performance and reliability. This liquid-cooled power pack is based around an over-square design accommodating four big titanium valves and double overhead billet cams.
New direct ignition coils mounted on the spark plug cap save weight while the semi-dry-sump lubrication system lowers the centre of gravity. The transmission features a new geartype shifting mechanism for better feel and is precision matched to new ratios. Even the lightweight exhaust system features a header pipe of trick titanium.
Meanwhile the new chassis, with its twin spar alloy frame and swingarm, delivers improved traction and control. The gripper seat cover gives better rider grip and durability while the Renthal tapered aluminium handlebars are rubber mounted for improved rider feel. Finally, the whole package is supported by fully adjustable Showa suspension, including 47mm twin-chamber cartridge forks and a rear shock with a large 50mm piston and 18mm inner rod, delivering the superior handling for which Suzuki is famous. Long-awaited, and more stunning than imagined, the all-new RM-Z250 is taking the four-stroke world by storm!
Features
- 249cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine is designed compact and lightweight with a bore and stroke of 77.0mm x 53.6mm and Compression Ratio of 13.4:1.
- Compact combustion chamber for efficiency, while the oversquare bore and stroke allows for larger valve diameters.
- Hollow camshafts are lightweight and strong.
- Both the exhaust and intake cams are machined from lightweight forged-steel billets and are surface-treated to increase durability.
- The cylinder head operates with a bucket and shim setup for easy adjustability and performance in extreme conditions.
- Lightweight aluminium cylinder with Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) coating to improve heat transfer and durability and weight reduction.
- Suzuki Advanced Sump System (SASS) allows the mass of the engine to sit as low to the ground as possible and provide more stable feeing in corners.
- SASS divides the crankcases into two separate compartments, one for the crankshaft and the other for the ultra-compact transmission, to keep everything compact and keep the engine as short as possible.
- Along with the combustion chamber changes, the intake and exhaust ports were reviewed and redesigned for more torque.
- Revised crankcase breather system aids in reducing oil consumption by allowing the four-stroke to breath easier at high rpm.
- New link-type shifting system allows the rider to have better shifting feel.
- Revised water pump design with a taller impeller blade and a smoother flow path.
- The radiator shrouds are redesigned and work with the larger radiators.
- Easy-to-maintain oil strainer thanks to an externally accessible design.
- Holding the front forks to the frame are completely redesigned triple clamps. Both the top and bottom clamps for more stable handling, especially under braking conditions.
- Rigid twin-spar aluminium frames are built with the proper amount of flex and rigidity balance. That translates into stability on the straights and cornering performance.
- Forged head pipe and lower body members are constructed for strength and durability.
- Newly designed swingarm with lightweight construction is improved traction delivery especially at whoops.
- The SHOWA front forks, the same as the forks on the RM-Z450, are optimized for better cornering performance and straight-line stability.
- The upper holder of the front fork protector is now abolished and fixed only at the bottom end to help weight reduction and less friction.
- Rear shock absorber suspension offers better performance and is valved and setup for cornering performance and stability through the whoops.
- Newly equipped Renthal handlebars featuring tapered bars that are secured by an aluminium steering stem nut with rubber mounts.
- Each side of the seat has textured surface for better knee gripping.
